This is the third weekly discussion topic. For more discussions and an explanation of them click HERE

This weeks discussion is about tubing. There are so many brands of tubing out there and also so many variations of tubing such as acrylic and metal "piping".

___________________________________________________________________

My personal favorite brand of tubing is MasterKleer. I have never had issue with it clouding or in fact any issues at all. I am very interested in acrylic tubing as well but I think there are too many issues with it. For example, if you want to take your graphics card out for a second you cant because the tubing connected to it is rigid.

What tubing (do you)/(would you like to) use in you build?

I love the PromoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT tubing. It bends very nicely for 1/2"x"3/4" tubing and stays nice and clear unlike a lot of the tubing with all the plasticize in them. Been using mine for a few months now and it looks brand new still!

i would like to use plexiglass tubing in my up coming build. its going to be a pain to fit and time consuming but its gonna be just what i want and i don't have to think about it clouding :)

currently just looking for someone who sells its colored but i might just buy it clear or maybe frosted. plus trying to find some fittings for it. (and money :D )

I prefer clear, non colored tubing (black is also OK but it depends on the build).

In the past I've used Tygon tubing, 14/10mm mostly and some thicker one (can't remember the actual size).

The thicker one was clunky and not so easy to route and didn't look good, the 14/10 ID looked way nicer however I couldn't fit EK compressions fittings with this tubing.

Currently, I'm waiting for my order to be shipped with PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT 13/10mm and some bitspower compression fittings, so hopefully something will fit nicely.

I've been using Masterkleer since late December and haven't had any problems with it. My only complaint would be kinking easily but that hasn't convinced me enough to change brands.

I always use 13/10 tubing (don't do inches, I'm not old!)

clear:

masterkleer - clouds

primochill primoflex pro lrt - clouds, reacts with mayhems pastel badly

tygon r3603 - clouds

clearflex60 - clouds

primochill primoflex advanced lrt - pending

rigidity is pretty similar except for advanced with is more rigid feeling and clearflex60 which is the 'spongeyest' feeling, bend radii are all very similar.

black:

masterkleer: leeches (clouds)

3/8 1/2 sounds much nicer. Also, that's clearly how the values were decided. :o

They just went up in multiples of 1/8. (Excluding the weird #/16 tubing that no-one uses)

I can't abide inches, I've never used them to measure anything!

This is an exception for me. :)

I used Tygon tubing when I first did my build and hated it. Even after a week it started getting foggy and looked terrible. Even tubing I picked up at the local hardware store remained clear for longer than the Tygon tubing. The PrimoChill PrimoFlex Advanced LRT tubing is just amazing and I have zero complaints. I can hold unused tubing right next to the used tubing and it looks identical, even after months of use. Another thing is how easy it is to put on a compression fitting. This stuff just slides right onto the fitting with little force! Using 1/2"ID x 3/4"OD Tygon tubing was just not fun whatsoever to work with compared to the PrimoChill stuff.

this can be a blessing or curse. a few members have accidently

knocked off hoses from comp fittings and i'm guessing slip fit as well.

just be very sure the comp sealing ring is tight. a bit more than finger

tight. seems to be happening to other forums members' as well, too.

I use 11mm/16mm or 7/16" x 5/8" XSPC or Primochill Advanced LRT

i'm toying with the idea of acrylic tubing (B-Neg has me hooked) and the

E22 stuff looks viciously esthetic, but a lil on the tiny side..

B-Neg has a couple of tuts on copper and acrylic tube bending.

I haven't had a problem with my Swiftech compression fittings slipping off the tube. The tube is easy to push on put takes a bit of force to remove. When I've taken off the fittings the tube was still fully on the barb of the compression fitting.

I am debating between red tubing (basic kind from frozencpu), or clear with red coolant.  I'd prefer distilled water and don't wanna use dyes, but getting air bubbles out of red tubing can be a PAIN I hear.

Bleeding a loop with opaque tubing is horrible. I have opaque white tubing right now with no clear acrylic blocks so you have to bleed it by sound, as in you have to listen for the bubbles to go away.

If your tubes are translucent its still easy to bleed because you can still see bubbles.

I can recommend red MasterKleer tubing as that's what i used for my first ever loop. Had no issues with it.

XSPC are masterkleer correct?

OR is masterkleer an actual brand?

EDIT: Also are 3/8 ID 5/8 OD too thick to see through?

I use MasterKleer 1/2" tubing [clear] in my build. Besides it being sligtly yellow-ish [which doesn't matter with my red coolant] there is nothing I can complain about. It's easy to cut, quite flexible and I havn't experienced any problems with it.

I have the same issue with my clear MasterKleer tubing. However, I had to get "replacement" tubing for a completely unrelated reason and the replacement was much better in terms of the yellow tinge. I think it depends a lot on the batch.

Heh, well the replacement is not that easy, I'm getting this stuff from Germany, it costs me about 18€ shipping / parcel and replacements tend to take a while so not really an option for something like tubing for me ^^'

If I had a while coolant or something I'd be displeased though ^^
