Help downgrading from windows 8 to 7

I have a windows 7 cd from when I first built my computer. Just need some help and have some questions. I have watched a ton of videos on how to downgrade and they all show something different. I know alot about computer hardware but nothing about the BIOS or software. Some people said that you have to have your drivers installed on something like a flashdrive..? Is that true with all computers or just factory built ones? Also if I have to do some sort of installation where my C drive gets wiped, will my other media drives get wiped as well? Maybe someone would be kind enough to link me to or write out the step by steps of downgrading, I would be extremely appreciative! Thanks for any help in advance!

Before you do this, there is really no reason to resist Windows 8 now. 

Windows 8 will also be supported for a longer time.

Maybe you want to specify why you wish to downgrade? If it's just the interface you're not liking, try out Start8 or something.

Basically back everything up with a restore image. Formatt everything and do a fresh windows 7 install. Not reccomended whatsoever tho.

I just hate not having start menu to be honest and windows key+q is great but when I usually get thrown into something in the metro UI, and having things open up in metro programs like skype when I click on someones skype link on the internet is a pain. I changed some of the default programs but I don't know how I can change skype and some other programs. Maybe I should give start8 a try? I don't know I just got really pissed off with windows 8 today lol. Thanks for the advice guys.

 

Edit: Just downloaded start8 and wow its amazing. Does anyone else have any other little tips to keep me out of metro as much as possible?
