I am really skittish about buying something like this...could someone explain how it works?

They send you the cd key and you put it in when installing Windows via USB (easiest option)
PS: Get it from somewhere more legit while I do shop at G2A I have heard of these keys not working after a certain time.

It gives you a key that you would use to activate a copy of windows. Simple as that

Well I have it being purchased from amazon the actual dvd...(non-OEM) but people are recommending this in my build thread.
