Low power usage gaming build on a budget, Advice please

Go to solution Solved by dockspot,

Thanks all for advice. Still putting parts list together.

Hi I am new to the forum however I have been watching the youtube channel for sometime.

I live in Australia and electrical prices are very high.  31 cents kWh

Some things from Amazon will ship to Australia at a low cost however motherboard, case, PSU I will have to buy here at about a 30$ mark up

I would like reliable well made parts with good reviews.

A budget of a 1000$ with all parts inc. OS

Gaming

Thanks for your advice

AMD A10 7850K (95W) or if really going economical then AMD A10 7800 (45/65W)
Gigabyte GA-A75-D3H
Single 8GB DDR3 DIMM

A 350W supply is enough for the 7850, and maybe a 300W one for the 7800.

No graphics card needed.

Lenovo/IBM ThinkPad T61 Widescreen 15.4" 1680x1050
Intel Core2Duo T8300 2.4GHz | 3GB DDR2 from Hynix | SATA II Patched bios (Middleton) | Samsung EVO 850
Arch Linux | Linux 4.3.X x86_64

Welcome to the forum, im fairly new here myself.

I would go for a gigabyte board, and for your budget probably an FX-6300, although you might be able to fit in an i5-4460

8GB Corsair Value Select RAM, 1TB Barracuda or WD Blue HDD, and a Samsung SH224DB dvd-rw if you need one

GPU I would go for a Gigabyte or asus 750Ti, and a [EDIT: Corsair VS5450], low power usage and reliable. A Thermaltake  Commander or a SPEC 01 (02 or 03) Should make for a decent build, around $1000 i would say

Hope this helps!

Edited 450 because a 750Ti only needs about 400W max so you're good there. Low power usage is key

Well that is some serious power hog lol

An APU solution is ok for him, aaand if he experiences low performance in games with the R7 graphics build in the A10 7850k he can always buy a graphics card and install it :)

I guess, but check out my list above. 750Ti and 4460 are great for low power use, and a 450W PSU won't suck too much out of the wall.

Thats what I was originally thinking but maybe Intel and nvidia would be more cost effective long term with electricity bill saving
