NEW BUILD suggestions appreciated

Heyo so after much help from last time i posted i got a good computer built for the family and my brothers, but now its time for a personal rig, and im open to suggestions, so FIRE AWAY.

NOTE: i was planning to use a 4670k and a cm storm scout 2 case as my family rig is purrrdy and i can get one for cheap. Second im in New Zealand so $NZD$ would be appreciated.

This will be used mostly for gaming and recording with friends so maybe Nvidia because of shadow play and whatnot price is a factor as i want everything including mouse and keyboard screen keyed in under 2.2k as im still a student and buying a car soon so ill be set back.

do you need a monitor?

EDIT: what type of mouse grip do you use?  do you prefer a type of key switch for the keyboard?

Formatting is so broken on dark theme

Also if your using shadowplay for the DVR the AMD Raptr software does that quite well. If it is for twitch it is still very beta on the amd side. so both options should be open too you ( in either case cpu x264 looks better)

Also do you have/need a KB and mouse

System CPU : Ryzen 9 5950 doing whatever PBO lets it. Motherboard : Asus B550 Wifi II RAM 80GB 3600 CL 18 2x 32GB 2x 8GB GPUs Vega 56 & Tesla M40 Corsair 4000D Storage: many and varied small (512GB-1TB) SSD + 5TB WD Green PSU 1000W EVGA GOLD

My mistake, he did. That formatting on dark theme is evil

It meets your budget.  I used NZ PCPartpicker.  I'm sure someone else can find you something better.

EDIT: I even made it blue/black theme.  comes with monitor, mouse, and keyboard.

1 Foreign currencies/markets allways screw everything i know about price/performance so this will take a little while.

2 What resolution are you looking to play at (if you have a monitor , or if you want more than 1080P from a new monitor)

3 Do you need to have max settings on everything or just mostly high settings? (this will effect the choice of accessories)

I went cheaper on the KC/Mouse and got a IPS Screen and SSD as well as a more powerful GPU. Generally I don't put optical drives in system recommendations any more But I do not know what your internet situation is so I included a basic DVD burner. I also doubled the ram from the previous recommendation.

Edit: it seems the OP isn't the only one who can horribly break formatting; How did I do that to only the first letter..

Very solid build.

My thoughts"

  1. At this point I like recommending more than 8 GB of ram games are using more and more of it and so are web apps.
  2. That motherboard is not SLI capable if he wants to get another 780 in the future he would need to change it.
  3. an 840 Evo is not a lot more and will yield better much performance with 4k reads and writes
  4. and I think the extra inch on the monitor is worth $5 to get the Viewsonic I listed.
  5. he could get a Windforce 290 for 120 Less than that 780 http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvr929oc4gd

My thoughts also:

1. I have 16GB in my current build, and I'll be damned if I have seen the usage eclipse 25-30%. That's while heavily gaming + Chrome + a plethora of background apps. I don't see a need for it just yet, especially the state the prices are in currently. If OP desperately needs 16GB, it's easy enough to grab another set later on down the track.

2. This is a good point, however the budget didn't quite squeeze it.

3. Again, blame the budget. Though I doubt the OP is going to notice a major difference without synthetic benchmarks. EDIT: Also $50 is definitely not worth it.

4. I'm personally not a fan of Viewsonic, I trust LG a lot more. Also an inch isn't much in the grand scheme of things, a jump to 24" is more ideal.

5. He could, but that would be useless as OP has asked for shadowplay capability.

  1. I must be the only ram hog, i usually have 32 in my machine but i put 16 in my media server and with only 16 I am constantly at 80% usage
  2. N/A Ninja Edit: on another note I despise Green Drives everyone I have gotten has died with in 2 years :/
  3. I trust the longevity that the evo has demonstrated it has work making cuts elswhere IMO
  4. I'm the opposite Like Viewsonic more than LG and your right a 24" is ever so slightly out of his budget.
  5. I don't know if op wants it for streaming, it he just wants it for DVR the AMD Raptr Software does that Quite well as well without dropping any performance. If he went with the 290 he could grab the Evo and maybe jump up to a bigger PSU for future crossfire (as that board supports it) but if he is dead set on shadowplay that 780 is boss.

We shall agree to disagree! I'm sure OP has some good parts to pick from in this thread :)
