Good Graphics Tablet for under $400usd

My friend wants me to look for a good graphics tablet for her for college. Preferably an interactive one so it has an actual display and that would would on its own or with a laptop. What would be a good one for under $400? Thanks guys :)

Uh shield tablet. Derp. It's 300 and it's got the tegra k1. So it's probably the most powerful tablet for well under budget there.

Not any that I can think of that are independent to a PC and are under that price, sorry.

Wacom makes good ones... Not that I've tried them but I've seen some artists prefer them over other brands...

I use a oldish Wacom Bamboo, its great for me.

 

I think I have a Intuos hidden in the house somewhere though.

Intuos Pro medium for sure (or whatever they call it now). I have the Intuos4 M, makes life so much easier love the OLED labels on mine though.

There is no bus powered LCD tablets, Wacom's cintiqs need AC adapters and the Companion Hybrid is out of the price range.
