A weird issue when running BOINC

Go to solution Solved by defunkt,

I get quite alot of noise from my soundcard when the gpu is under very light loads. But anything in your system can cause a gpu to give out noise or coil whine. Quite often the gpu might not like certain power supplys causing more noise than others. Its nothing to worry about but if it get's to annoying experiment a bit. If you have a sound card in one of you pci-e slots try moving it further away from your gpu, and so on :)

Right now, my rig(including GPU) is folding. Whenever my GPU folds, I get this weird noise in one ot the speakers on my headphones. It sounds a bit like breathing. It only started occuring today, and only occurs when my GPU is folding. I snoozed my GPU and the noise stops. Any reason why this happens? I have a sound card too.

GPU load is only at 50ish percent.

Probably just interference when your gpu is at high load. Just like coil whine

Does coil whine sometimes creep up? Because I didn't have this issue before. Also, my GPU is only at 50ish percent. I forgot to mention that.

I was thinking of doing that. It's not that big of an issue - when playing audio, I hardly hear it and doesn't distort my audio.
