" Money isn't an issue " Blue Hawaii SE Electrostatic Amp, Stax 009. It'll run you $10k+ and you'll have to get a studio grade mic to add to it. In a more reasonable sense H558/598, AD700, DT880 Pro, really depends on what you consider reasonable budget and your musical preferences, I wish I could just tell everyone to go buy HD800s, or T1s, or even LCD 2/3's but it's just not that easy.

Mic: Blue Yeti or Audio Technica AT2020(get the studio package) or Blue Snowball. From then buy a pop filter and maybe a stand for the microphone if it doesn't have one.

Headphone: Beyerdynamic DT 990/DT770 or Audio Technica AD900 or Hifiman HE-400(a little pricey 400$)

Soundcard: ASUS Xonar Essence STX

It is not the most extreme setup but it is a very high-end one.

When I said money is not an issue, I didn't mean I shit gold bars. I mean, if I saved up a bit, I could probably afford 10k, but still, within reason. Though I really like your suggestion t0wer, Those headphones are really nice and the reviews are good. I'll look into an amp too.

Yeah amps are going to be required once you start looking at some good headphones.Though it all depends on your reasonable budget, anyone would love to grab the Sr-009 and a Blue Hawaii amp, make sure they're good for the headphones you plan to get. I think that Planar Magnetic/He400/500 work better with solid state amps rather than tube amps to my knowledge. Schiit Audio is a good place to look Schiit Asgard + Modi should drive you fine but thats looking around the $1k price point after everything. Second thought, I think the Magni can drive the HE-500s, probably won't be to full potential but pretty darn good.
