A program like photoshop with the same abilites?

Gimp is probably going to be your best bet for the features, and some people prefer it to PS

The absolute same amount? Not really I think.

But GIMP comes pretty close these days. It's not quite as sophisticated

IMHO (but then again, its R&D budget is most likely only a fraction of

what Adobe throws at Photoshop), but for most non-professional needs,

it will suffice. I've been using it for a while and it has so far always

allowed me to do what I needed it to.

The most crucial thing, as with Photoshop or any other software which is

rather complex, is to not get impatient when familiarizing yourself with

it. But Google should usually be able to help you out, for most things

there are tutorials out there.

Look up gimp and an OpenSource alternative to photoshop very similar free and comes w/ most linux distros which  is a giant opensource community so it's very widely known

Paint.Net isn't that complicated, a lot more simple to use/get used to than Gimp IMO. If you have a trouble using Paint.Net, you'll have trouble using Photoshop as well ..
