What is the current state of steam OS

I remember hearing a lot about steam OS when it first came out, and I personally got excited for it (though never have used a linux OS had no idea what to expect), but it kinda fell off the face of the Earth. Today I was setting up steam streaming, and by doing so was reminded about steam OS, but again was unable to find much of anything about it, so does anyone here us this OS, and if so how much has it changed?

It hasn't fell off the face of the Earth, it's still in development for official release.
