Getting purse black ink off pink case rubber

nickdemartin

So my mother who owns a s5 has the otterbox commuter in pink, recently bought a new purse that had some coloring for the leather in it. It has gotten on the rubber and have tried dish soap and scrubbing with no success. So I ask, has anyone come across this problem before and how do you fix such an issue? Its not exactly a $5 case so Id prefer she doesn't just have to buy another. i would just bleach it and see the result but id like to have as little fading as possible. I wish I had more time to fool with it but we are going on a cruise tomorrow at 3 and leaving for a week so I do not want to fool with it while on vacation. Thanks for any help you can provide!

since rubber is a porous material, it has a tendency to absorb colours and can be very difficult to remove.

this might help you

Some alcohol might do

alcohol would be harmful as it could start to break down the rubber. same with acetone/nailpolish remover

When you get back, see if otterbox will RMA it. They are usually pretty good about that stuff

I know alcohol eats up stuff, but I'm talking about alcohol on a piece of cloth and gently remove the rubber stains off, unless it's for a prolonged time, or applied directly, the case won't be damaged.

Tried the eraser, both white and pink just to see, no luck, tried a mr clean, nothing, don't even think it lightened the black at all. The third idea with bleach seems good, and will try after I get back, just wont work for me now.

Even on coloring? That's pebble level support there!

Think that would work? I want to try it now but will try to RMA first.

Otter box has given me a whole new case simply because the belt clip broke. I have always had good luck with them

first of you need to put a thin coat of honey on it, let it chill in the fridge overnight. Once the honey seems firm you want to than go ahead and throw some salt over it. Let it rest for a few hours and than proceeds to gently burn the honey off.

I'll try that when I get back, I wish I had more time to try that. Most interesting idea i've heard yet

yea i had a white case for my Samsung and it got all blue so i did it work like a charm, you could also just freeze it and crack the honey off.

How hard is it to crack it off? Does it leave it sticky?

It does but just run it over hot water and it should be fine
