Does anyone own a laptop with a GT750m and can report gaming performance on it?

ThatAngryGnome

I'm looking at the Acer Aspire v7, not for gaming but because I like how it looks and it packs a punch. A sweet extra is the 750m which I hear can do *well* for light gaming. So how does it perform? In an ideal world, I would like to play BF3/BF4 on low settings at either 900p or 1080p at 60fps along with lesser demanding games at higher res and quality.

My friend with a 740m gets 40 fps on low 1080p BF4. I would think you'd be fine. But I would get a new GPU like the 850m or 860m.

the GT750M is similar to the GT730 desktop variant

runs on DDR3 VRAM

on med to low 1080P you can net 30-40fps

Really?

Thats misleading as fuck.  I'd imagine I'd be buying a 750 when I see 750m on the box.  Not cool.

No, it is because of heat. You can't pack desktop grade hardware into laptops. Just not possible. It is almost common knowledge...

Hello

I have got a 755m and it can run BF3 and Bioshock Infinite on ultra with a pretty decent frame rate. It can also run my modded to hell Skyrim.

Hope this helps :)

It seems you don't know a lot about laptop GPUs.

The R9 M290X is around equivalent to an R9 270X/R9 280.

The GTX 880M is around equivalent to a GTX 770.

Laptop GPUs are never as powerful as their nameplate-equivalent desktop models. It's perfectly cool if you understand why that cannot be as powerful in the first place.

Main Rig: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) KLEVV CRAS XR RGB DDR4-3600 | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550I AORUS PRO AX | Storage: 512GB SKHynix PC401, 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus, 2x Micron 1100 256GB SATA SSDs | GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra 10GB | Cooling: ThermalTake Floe 280mm w/ be quiet! Pure Wings 3 | Case: Sliger SM580 (Black) | PSU: Lian Li SP 850W

Server: CPU: AMD Ryzen 3 3100 | RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Crucial DDR4 Pro | Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B550-PLUS AC-HES | Storage: 128GB Samsung PM961, 4TB Seagate IronWolf | GPU: AMD FirePro WX 3100 | Cooling: EK-AIO Elite 360 D-RGB | Case: Corsair 5000D Airflow (White) | PSU: Seasonic Focus GM-850

Miscellaneous: Dell Optiplex 7060 Micro (i5-8500T/16GB/512GB), Lenovo ThinkCentre M715q Tiny (R5 2400GE/16GB/256GB), Dell Optiplex 7040 SFF (i5-6400/8GB/128GB)

heat and size is one issue

so you were thinking a GPU like the GTX780Ti with 250 watt TDP can fit into a puny laptop?

def not possible man

Yeah it doesn't make an ounce of sense once you think about it.

What about the newer maxwells? would they perform better in laptops because of the lower heat/power consumption?

well they are more power saving but

still no where near the power of the desktop GPU

I will pick the GT750M at least and above

some GT750M do come with GDDR5 which is a add bonus

I'd recommend the y40 or 50, they use GTX 860m or R9 M270, have 4k displays and aren't much more.
