I live in a small town in southern Nova Scotia. We have a population of maybe 3-4 thousand people and not much in the way of quality services. Like internet, we have just piss poor internet. Thankfully my pc uses a wired connection so it's half bad but the Wifi signal on the router that came from our ISP sucks. At the ends of my house (one of which my room is in) theres no Wifi at all or if your lucky maybe 1 bar. But as we all know having 1 bar of wifi is just a tease and doesn't really work.

So I come to you o wise forum, help me extend my Wifi range. Ill buy a new router or buy Wifi extenders(if there is such a thing) I don't care I just want to know what I can do to get a Wifi signal throughout my house.

TL DR : Wifi range from ISP router is shit, how do i fix?

If you put something like OpenWRT on it, you can increase the power of the router by 200x

Or be a boss and get the WRT1900AC :)

Just because you said that, I feel like you have no experience with Routers, because the 1900AC was way too overhyped, overpriced and the Nighthawk R7000 takes a crap on it. (Let alone the R8000)

Nice doublepost.

I didn't say that it was better, I said it was more reputable and "cool". Why get a Honda Civic when you can get a Benz CLA? :P

Well well, if it's worth doing it's worth over doing. I could justify the purchase with "I needed wifi in the pool".

lol in all seriousness though it's not worth the price. The N7000 is much better for the money however if I were to get a router right now the Asus RT-AC68U would be my number one choice. I've had Netgear routers and adapters break down in the past but never once an Asus.

Personally I think the 1900AC looks dumb, the Nighthawk is much sleaker ;3

you can get range extenders and a new router would probably help but the router might work fine. the signal strength could be due to the size of the house and the material of the walls and the number of walls between you and the router the signal could be degraded significantly. also positioning your router in a central location of your house could help get the signal to all corners
