Just got these today :wub::

 Now the search for the perfect headphone amp for these can start. I'm currently using a Naim Headline which seems to be an excellent pair for the HD800's, but I'd really like to try these with a tube amp. After a quick search on different forums the Bottlehead Crack OTL (http://bottlehead.com/product/crack-otl-headphone-amplifier-kit/) seems to be the recommended amp for these so I might have to buy that some day.

It's that cheap because it's actually just a kit, you have to assemble it yourself. If you want it preassembled I think it's about $450-$500.

why buy tube amp with best precision headphones out there? Why not  just buy grado headphones if you warm open sound.

I've never owned a tube amp and I'm mostly just curious how it would sound. I'm not planning on selling the Headline anytime soon.

Well, it wasn't easy to justify it to myself either :). I had a pair of these home last week to try them out, and they just sounded so much better than my old HD650's that I just couldn't help myself, I simply had to get these.

Welcome to our exclusive HD800 club. We host private, sexy little parties and our farts smell like butterflies high on rainbows.  :) Soundstage with these are really something else if you are playing the right tracks. I'm trying not to scratch the paint on mine... you might wanna be careful with that, too.

Thank you. Yeah, the soundstage with these were on some tracks truly magnificent, you simply can't get that with the HD650's. I listened to some Two Steps From Hell with these and it was just epic, even more so than usual :). I've also read that the paint on these might scratch if handled roughly but I'm always very careful with my stuff so I hope that won't be a problem,
