max resolution of 1280 x 1024?

JewishBacon

so my dad just got a new pc and monitor. the pc is good for the most part, albeit a bit um...odd in parts.   its got a 4670k, 8GB ram, and an nvidia 8400 series GPU (why so old lol?) anyway, the new 1080 monitor wont set the resolution to 1920x1080.  I think win7 still thinks the old monitor is attached.   any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Take the gpu out and use onboard graphics, they're probably better.

well i figured i might as well do the N64 cartridge trick, considering the age of this part.  That did the trick....go figure

That happens when your Drivers are not properly installed. If they are installed, re install them and it will work properly. Btw the onboard graphics would do just fine though :/
