I'm planning on buying the ASUS Z97-PRO and the i7 4790k. On ASUS website it says it needs a BIOS Update to support 4790k (I think, see quote below). I have no spare CPU so I'm buying this board as it has a USB Bios Flashback feature.

So I'm just wondering what would I name the .CAP BIOS file to? So I can plug USB in and press the USB Flashback button on motherboard. Can't find it in the User Manual.

Also, do you think

1.Enhance compatibility for new Anniversary Edition and Devil's Canyon CPU.

This means that it needs this update to support Devil's Canyon 4790k CPU, or is it only to "enhance".

I'm just really confused as they don't directly state it!

Thanks.

There will be no compatibility issues out of the box because of what @ said.

Z97 came out for Haswell refresh and Devil's Canyon came out later and according to ASUS you need BIOS 1008 to support Devil's Canyon CPUs.

So you might need a BIOS update or not.

This is what I'm worried about. According to people it "should" work but the website says different. It doesn't describe the 1008 BIOS Update clearly by only saying "enhances".

Plus I can't find instructions on how to use the USB BIOS Flashback feature without CPU or Memory like ASUS claims. It's really annoying.
