The Vapor-X is the best, the MSI With the 2fan cooler is the best price/quality.

Asus

I have the 290x asus, and it is definately not the best, it is a lot cheaper though.

does it have good oc compatability?

Not as good as the Vapor X but yes it will be fairly capable so long as you have good case temperatures.

I still recommend the Vapor-X as it is the superior cooler which matters a lot for overclocking the card.

The Asus 280x was just as dissopointing as the Asus R9 290 I tested, both were really bad.

The Vapor-X 280x was a great card from Sapphire but the Toxic is a better card, I did a review of them against eachother on my channel if you are interested.

It is difficult if you are trying to go for a red theme, but you could also go with a more neutral color card, such as the Dual-X from Sapphire which is just black or the windforce from gigabyte.

What do you value more, performance and cooler or looks?

is the gigabyte card a good card?

Not really, I would rather have the Sapphire Dual-X than the Windforce, in my furmark test the windforce went to 76c @ 90% fan speed, the dual-x went to 73c but only at 61% fan speed.

Remember the Dual-X is the 'base' model 280x from sapphire with the vapor-x being the middle model and the toxic being the top model, and my results back that up, each one is better than the previous one.

So honestly I would make your choice out of the three sapphire cards as the windforce wasnt that good and the Asus DC2 couldnt even make it through furmark without hitting the thermal limit (I covered this in my Asus 280x showdown against the Windforce 280x on my channel).

This video shows a comparison of the Dual-X against the Toxic 280x so you can see the difference between the 'base' model and 'top' model:
