"45GB" to use Windows Vista SP2 lol

so, after install all the updates (Vista + SP1 + SP2) on a 60GB partition

i find that... i only have 15GB free on the hdd

and after add an 8GB game (and some small crap)

i find that i only have 6GB free now

in the other side, on the 20GB partition, i install Ubuntu 14.04

and i still have more free space than Vista

maybe is just me, but... is insane how much GB use windows this days

final numbers

60GB to play "1 game" with DX11 (OMG!!!)  -_-

and linux to all the rest, with a lot of free space still (i love Ubuntu so much)

So just run an Ubuntu-based distribution and run Windows games in PlayOnLinux and WINE.

Windows will use more or less based on what is available. Windows typically also has a larger install because Windows includes the paging file on the same partition as the OS whereas Linux puts this on an entirely different partition. I cannot verify for Vista but I know for Windows 7 it will use as little as 7 GB to install. You can test this by creating a virtual machine with a 10 GB hard drive and installing Windows 7 to it. When I did that it gave me roughly 3 GB free space.
