Future Build Any Suggestions

Ripsta128

My budget would be around ~$1800. I plan on gaming a lot on it, video editing not 4K though but hopefully something that may be upgraded from, coding and overall just my entertainment system. Only going to be running a single 1080p monitor but would like to upgrade to a 4k monitor later not a priority though. Will be buying new keyboard and mice (for gaming). My plan for my build is as follows:

$175 Motherboard: MSI Z97 Gaming 7

$239 CPU: Intel i5 4690k

$119 PSU: Corsair AX760

$189 Case: Corsair 780T

$115 Cooling: Corsair H105

$200 SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB

$150 HDD: Western Digital Black 2TB

$179 RAM: G.Skill Trident X 16GB 2400MHz

$28   Fans: 2x Corsair SP 120 High Performance

$6     Thermal Compound: Arctic Silver 5

$209 GPU: Gigabyte R9 270x in Crossfire (Already own 1 270x)

$169 Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K70 RGB

$80   Mice: Logitech G502

I do see a possibility in me doing crossfire, why suggest the 290 over 290x? Is there not enough difference in performance to justify the cost?

Pretty much, and for 1080P or even 1440P a 290 will be just fine

@Ripsta128, if you can get the i5-4690k.

The AX-860i is a great psu but you might want to check out pricing for the EVGA 220-G2-0750-XR - excellent quality, ten year warranty and fantastic pricing in many places. Sapphire recommends a 750W psu but you can easily get by with a quality 650W unit.

You can save by going with a less expensive ssd. In general usage and gaming there is no perceptible difference between a high performance drive such as the 850 Pro and the 840 EVO or even a Crucial MX100. The savings can often be close to sufficient to get an ssd twice the size.

I would suggest getting a WD Blue or Seagate Barracuda instead of the WD Black.

There is little point getting DDR3-2400 memory unless its price is very close to DDR3-1600 with good timings.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
