None that consumers can buy for sure - who knows when it comes to super computers though. It's funny because Intel said they would have 10ghz cpus by 2011 a long time ago

Me: Yeah I just really can't get my H220 working again, I've tried everything that was suggested in the forum.

Brian (Swiftech Support): Hmm, have you tried slapping it?

ive heard of ones over 8Ghz but not 10Ghz

{if your going to try it though id recommend a single core and some liquid helium}

well they did say this before thier processors had multiple cores. Im pretty sure AMD and Intel can make a single Core processor that will run at 10ghz or higher, but that doesn't amount to any real world applications. maybe in the future with different technologies that are still to come out it will be better speeds.

To what I know of overclocking, the record on the AMD side was achieved by Andre Yang on an 8350 @ 8.794 GHz. On the new Haswell CPUs, it is rumored that the Intel Core i7 4770k can be overclocked up to 8 GHz (which is where the Intel CPU locks itself and doesn't allow any more overclocking).

Hope that Helped!

There was a small company/science team a few years back that, I can't remember the name of, developed a single core running at something ridiculous like 30 Ghz. Definitely no consumer grade since it was a custom 1 off CPU and Motherboard. It had this crazy liquid nitrogen cooling system as well. Man I wish I could find the site again.......

Apparently they thought we'd be there by 2011... article from 2010.

I bet we'll be using different technology before we ever reach 10ghz with the current type. Either quantum computing or something that hasn't even been invented yet. 10GHz with current technology just doesn't seem likely to me, at least not in mass production.

They probably would have, if they didn't get sidetracked and unfocused because of mobile processing and iGPU nonsense.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Jesus, even with liquid nitrogen cooling I wonder how hot it got lol

Intel said that the netburst chips would hit 10ghz, but it never made it past 3.8 because of thermal reasons (although cedar mill P4's are REALLY cool running chips). I think the P4 had a 8 something record for a while (P4 631, also a cedar mill core), but was lost when the original CPU overclock database was killed (ripping.org).

There was a screenshot of an AMD FX chip at 9ghz but was dismissed because it was a glitch in CPUZ.

Maybe. I mean you could get it to 20ghz...but it would be glowing hot and would not work...

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.
