So i'm looking into getting an SSD to use for frequently played games to increase loading, and to put frequently used programs on and startup programs on for the same reason. Want to have a system that feels really snappy, and another SSD seems like the next logtical step. I already have a small 60GB crucial M4. <$100. Doesn't have to be super high performance, just better then HDD for load times.

Also, would I be able to raid my two SSDs in anyway to achieve any kind of performance?

I am whatever I am.

You can get a Sandisk SSD at the moment for a very reasonable price. They've dropped their prices in the UK quite a bit and I'm sure they've done the same in the US. While their write speeds aren't that great, the read speeds are some of the best in the market, which is pretty much what you're looking for.

at the moment I'd recommend the Crucial MX100, as it is faster in writes than the slightly older 840 evo and is also a bit cheaper.

considering raid, both drives need to be the same capacity, so if you only buy one additional drive and plan on raiding a 60 GB and a 120 GB ssd, this is not going to work ;)

Practically any 120GB SSD, usually the cheapest.

You can raid them, but that will obviously increase the odds of losing your install due to hardware failure.

It does improve speed, but IMO there's not much a point of it since with the speed of a modern SSD, going arbitrarily faster than already-quite-fast isn't worth the risk.

I bought a 256gb SSD for 100, so going for a 120gb for a $100 wouldn't be to smart right?

You can raid them, but it will depend on the speed of the slower one, if your current SSD has up to 200MB speeds and the new one has 450MB speeds, you are making it slower instead of faster.

For $110 you can get a Crucial MX100 256 GB SSD.

If you just want a blazing fast drive you can raid 0 a pair of SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 or you can get a  single ADATA XPG SX910 128GB.

IMO, size > performance for SSDs

Just to clarify (for those that might take your post at face value), that is not true. Running RAID, you can run any 2 (or more) drives together, whereas your storage space is going to be a multiple of the smallest drive (for instance RAID 0 on a 256GB and a 250GB drive will net a 500GB array, same as RAID 0 with a 256GB and a 512GB would net a usable space of 512GB. (though in the latter case it is only really useful if you need to increase your Read and Write speeds without loosing capacity (and it would be cheaper)).

As for the OP, I would steer towards Crucial and away from Samsung, but that is only because Samsung is the go to drive even though the crucial is faster (MX100 iirc) at more or less teh same price (in USD). In all reality, all SSDs will net about the same usefulness for the average user. The difference between the worst and the best SSD is just a few % faster speeds.

Honestly, that MX100 is about the best bang for the buck in relation to what i want to spend. 128gb is $99, twice the capacity is only $12 (before promo deductions) more. If ssds were priced $12 per 128gb... mother of god we would all have massive SSD raids.. our phones would be reading our music from SSDs connected to a homemade SATA to SD converter instead of SDCARD slots..

I am whatever I am.

The MX100 series are actually bringing down SSD prices on the whole market, they are awesome. Some people enjoy the speed but wants to play safe, so there are drives quite capable, but they come with a higher price, like the Adata SX910 or Sandisk Extreme II.

Sandisk counter attacked Crucial pretty hard, with the X100 series (lol that name), and those drives they sell with no product name, like the SanDisk SDSSDP-128G-G25 I mentioned on my post, they come in different capacities and are called just "Sandisk SSD". On lower capacities Sandisk performs a little better than the Crucial value SSDs.
