iPad, Galaxy Tab or.....?

equippedbum

I'm in the market for a new tablet and my mind is overrun with tech info...

I'm going to be downloading a lot of reading material at home and I also need 4g.

I know you can't pinpoint just one tablet as the best...looking for opinions about what good and what's better.

I've read and watched a few reviews lately and they all say the same thing about Samsung tablets; great design and hardware let down by an extremely bloated skin. To the point it interferes with use.

Have you considered the Nexus 10? Or one of the higher end Asus tablets?

I have an iPad Air and I have no complaints about it (apart from the hefty price tag I guess). It's a huge improvement over the previous iPads, mostly in the physical properties, being lighter and thinner, but I'd also recommend the Nexus line. There is rumours of a Nexus 8 coming out soon, and if I were you I'd keep an eye out for that. Nexus devices are as good as the competition and are normally cheaper.

Rig - Processor: Intel core i5 3570k @4.3GHz, Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX, GPU: XFX HD 7950 DD, with a Kraken G10 and Kraken X40, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 4x4GB, HDD: Seagate 1.5TB, Cooler: Xigmatek Prime SD1484, Case: Phantom 530

I wouldn't bother with Android tablets unless your budget is only going to allow for a Nexus 7 or something similar. The app store on the iPad destroys anything on Android.
