I feel ya. I paid just shy of 20K for my current car (I don't need much) and so long as there is as much cargo room as a full size sedan would have in the Model III (they renamed it from the Model E, Ford was hellbent on preventing Tesla getting a S-E-X lineup.) I would totally be interested in getting a Tesla instead of a gas burner. Considering my current car will last about as long as it will take Tesla to get them on the road and debugged...I think the stars are aligning. :)

Letting people use your patents != open source

It's still really nice of them to give away all their patents (although I don't think any of them were really mind blowingly good). I wish more companies *cough* Apple *cough* would be that nice.

I really like the CEO, Elon Musk, he also owns SpaceX, which sends supplies to the International space station, and one day will send people to space!

But then again. Sex? Seems like some 14 years old humour. I don't think it would be well appreciated in the automotive world honstly.

I have a tesla store about a block next to my house. The guys there are nice; to charge from 0 to 100% it costs around about 16$ CDD. their base model does 370km per charge. which is going from Vancouver to Seattle and half way back. their Model S 80 which does 480 km does vancouver to seattle than back on a single charge. and that'll cost like 15$ in energy in Vancouver. only thing is it's 3 days on 120V plug. and 10hours on a 240V plug (0-100%)

I wish he'd want to do more with Hydrogen cars instead of having a fit whenever Honda announces one. I'd consider getting a Telsa if I lived 5 minutes from everything and didn't have to drive anywhere substantial, but since I make 800 mile trips every three months... I would have to sit for a very long time to wait for my car to charge. And then do that 2-3 times because the car only goes 265 miles, which I don't believe is very accurate if my phone battery is any testament.
