Posted July 20, 2014 Hello, there. I'd really appreciate it if somebody could help me out with the PowerDVD software. I am using Cyberlink's PowerDVD Pro version 13 on Windows 8, and I'm running into issues with the region playback options on the software. I wouldn't be using it because VLC is far superior other than the fact that despite me following an online guide with precision correctly to mod VLC into reading and playing Blurays, I am among the few who the mod just will not work for, unfortunately. So basically, PowerDVD has a programmed limit to the number of times you can change the region options for blurays and dvds. After changing the region 5 times, you are stuck and the region can't be changed again. I have seen two online instructions, listed below, which show ways of going into the registry files of the software and changing the code ,which decrements the region change limit, by an enormous amount, therefore I can change the region of the software almost infinitely, which is my want. However, I can't follow the guides for; firstly, they detail how to do this on XP and Vista windows operating systems only, which I don't have ( as stated before, I use 8), and I've no idea where to find the registry code which they demonstrate in the program files of the PowerDVD software. Please help! Thank you very much. http://www.mydigitallife.info/reset-cyberlink-powerdvd-blu-ray-region-code-to-free-locking/ http://forums.kmplayer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6431
 Posted July 20, 2014 Author Have you looked into this: http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18110.page ? Sorry, how does this help me? I'd just like to reset the region code change limit so that I can continue watching dvds and blurays of different regions... The idea that the hardware (my BD/DVD drive) is what creates the limit doesn't compute with me, because by using VLC I can switch to whatever region of dvd I like and am not restricted by any such limits. Try this then. It should work for 8. http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/983091 i'm a potato
 Even with hidden files and operating system files enabled for show in my search, there are no BRF files or .dat files similar in the program files of PowerDVD. Not for me on windows 8, at least. Other solutions I find seem rather shady. Maybe check this out: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=149191 i'm a potato
