Mac Running VLC badly

DevanArianne

SO I have an old little Mac Mini.

Has a 1.5 Ghz Intel Core Solo, 2 GB RAM, and a WS blue 320 GB HDD.

Its giving very badly pixelated playback on VLC on some movies. It doesnt seem to matter what file type, or what quality. Does it on MP4, AVI, and MKV files HD or SD.

Is it just that the processor isn't beefy enough, or could there be some other problem?

I jut bought the damn thing to fiddle with Mac OS.

Core Solo.

There's the problem. A single core simply isn't strong enough to keep up.

I have a 2012 MacBook Air that plays any video without a single problem.

The specs are as follows:

CPU: Intel Core i5 @ 1.8GHz - 2.8GHz (TB)

RAM: 4GB DDR3L @ 1600MHz

GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000

Storage: 128GB SSD

Display: 13.3" TN display <— one of the best TN displays I've used. :D

EDIT: I said "with" when I meant "without". This was brought to my attention by @Wikiforce. Thanks mate!

I really need to read over my posts before posting. My bad. :D

I don't know if this applies to your mac mini, I am a little tired and fading, btu I have a 2.66 core duo mac mini that I installed a crystal hddecoder in to run XBMC.. here is a forum post (I didn't read all the way through but it is a single)

And here's installing crystal hd in an appletv. Which is similar. But not the same.

I always guarantee that no more than 50% of what I say is useful.

Thanks for the help, but I actually NEED the wifi in it and it seem the crystal HDDecoder would replace it.
