Thermal paste question

So my 8350 has been running hot ( i think it is ) lately , 40c at idle under a hyper 212 , so my first thought was to get some new thermal paste and reseat the cooler , so my mum gave me some thermal paste she had lying around but its the generic thermal paste ( silicon based i believe ) , 

 

Do you guys think i should change the coolermaster pasted out for the generic paste or leave it until i get some MX-4 ?
