Office PC for the gf

Hey all just getting some feedback on a build list for the gf.

PC will be used for word processing, youtube, browsing etc etc.

Have a Monitor and a 650ti to chuck in there if needed, case will be a aerocool dead silence. Will be getting mass storage also.

Thanks in advance.

Looks good, your not going to need to put the 650ti in, just use the iGPU, One thing though, I would recommend you give her PC at least 6GB RAM

WTF you only have 10%tax? The i3 is way overkill. A pentium G3220 will do fine for office use.

Its just sitting around anyway so id rather use it, if it runs too hot in that case ill take it out.

I will stick with 4gb atm and then upgrade to 8g dual later.

Our prices are through the roof on most things, plus a cc surcharge.

True it is overkill but matches quite well with the rest of the components and will suit future upgrades more.

OK, the reason I recommend 6gb RAM, is because if you go with 4gb Windows is going to use half of your RAM even just when idle

That is a valid point. I thought windows 8.1 had addressed the excessive use of ram, I wonder if i could get away with using some of the ssd as a ram disk etc?

Looks fine, but if you're thinking of upgrading to 8gb in the future maybe see if there's an appropriate motherboard with 4 DDR3 slots? then you could just buy another 4gb, rather than tearing out the 4 you already have and putting 8 in.

SSD = greater productivity. Trust me, I put one in my MacBook and it made a world of difference - and I'm not gaming on the MacBook.

Get the cheapest dual core intel processor, at least 4gb of ram, an SSD and you will be golden, trust me.
For office use, you do not need anything better than that.

If you can't spare a 50quid for a 120gb SSD then the only other option is an HDD.

I mean, my mom's rig consists of the cheapest dual core intel processor I could find on the 1155 platform, 4gb of ram, an hd5450 gpu and 60gb SSD, and the thing absolutely flies.
