I have gigabytes z87x-ud3h board and I went to update the bios from f7 to f9 via Gigabytes @BIOS software. After I did it I rebotted and when it got done with the starting windows screen it immediately went to windows error screen where I could either start windows normally or start system recovery. I decided to launch system recovery and everything was fixed. How do I got about installing my old bios which I have saved on the desktop and then updating it again hopefully with no errors?

When you update your BIOS, all the settings will be reverted back to Default / Auto. You may just need to set everything back to what it was.

Something right off the top of my head...IDE mode or AHCI mode for the SATA ports.

Look at mobo manual for reference. On mobo PCB, there are two switches. One switches from main BIOS to secondary. There's also button next to start and reset ones to clear CMOS. Remember to shutdown pc and flip PSU switch before doing that. (I had to check my own manual for this :P)
