Hi I'm building a computer for the first time and I got mostly everything working but I'm still having some issues, my specs are:

i7 4790k @ 4ghz (base value)

Corsair H80i water cooler for CPU

EVGA GTX 770

Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard

16GB Crucial Ballistix Elite 8x2

1x Samsung SSD - 250GB

1xWD Blue HDD - 1TB

Corsair CS650M PSU

Windows 8.1 64bit

The problems I am having are:

(1) The only way I can connect my monitor is through the graphics card HDMI not the port on the motherboard

(2) Might be having issues with the CPU temp. not exactly sure-

At idle CPU temp reads: 35 degrees Celsius highest read value 52 degrees Celsius

After playing BF4 for about 15 minutes: 39 degrees Celsius highest read value 84 degrees Celsius <-- Thats what I'm questioning.

Any help I can get would be great, I don't really know whats wrong and this is my first build.

Thanks

It's normal to only connect through the graphics card, the HDMI port on the motherboard is if you want to use the integrated graphics built into the CPU.

That high temp is pretty high for an H80i, are your screws tightened in all the way? How did you apply your TIM?

What's the problem here exactly...?

Change the thermal paste, remount the cooler, replace the stock fan.

For one thing, there is no such thing as a 770Ti. ;)

  1. When you use a dedicated graphics card, it disables the onboard graphics.
  2. Make sure that you have a proper mount on the CPU block.

For the first one, the integrated graphics have been automatically disabled by the use of a dedicated GPU. I don't see a reason as to why you would need to re-enable it.

Just to follow up - I moved the radiator to an area in the case where it wasn't cramming up the space in front of the motherboard heatsink, and removed and put new thermal paste on and now after running Battlefield 4 for a bout 45 minutes almost my CPU temp is at 53 degrees Celsius, and my GPU temp is at 69 degrees Celsius.
