I do, no point in getting an i5 for gaming if you're not going to overclock it. Better off getting an i3 and saving yourself some money.

Are there any xeons in the same range that will be better? i see people recommending them

Most of the better ones are like $30 more than a 4690K.

Nah, Xeon's are only good for being an i7 replacement. They're more expensive than i5's. i3 or the Pentium K is a better route because you're either spending less money or getting great gaming performance for the money (which you can actually overclock).

Just out of curiosity would getting the pentium k and say... a x61 be better than if you spent all the money on a cpu and used a stock cooler

Well if you're strictly gaming I think so. At least if you're getting an overclocking capable board. You'd be spending less and still getting roughly the same gaming performance.

'course games that use more than two cores won't run so well but it should be just fine.
