I'm looking for a 3-5V 50 or 40mm fan to cool my raspberrypi, and the reason that I want it to be 3-5V is that I want it to work over GPIO, so it would need a max power draw of 50ma. Having not played around with GPIO before, I decided to ask around to see if anyone here can recommend a low voltage fan for me.

Before you tell me that the fan is pointless, this is not because I am entirely sane. My Raspberry Pi already has a heatsink on it.

How about using a 5v fan connected to the USB port since the GPIO only supplies very limited current. The USB port can provide up to 100mA. I suggest that you

control the fan by using a transistor/small relay.

I can't really find any good low power fans.

failing trying to find a low-power fan I just took one off a spare stock intel 1155 heatsink I had lying around after my main build. Hooked it up to a 9V battery, and i'm thinking about controlling it over GPIO with a relay/FET. Currently works though.
