I've been playing battlefield 4 on my system and getting a rather strange experience. It runs at a good 60/70 FPS on ultra but stutters every now and again to almost a halt, making the game unplayable. I'd have thought my system was good enough to play it?!

Intel i5 4670k stock clocks

4gb DDR3 1300mhz ram

500gb Hard Drive

Sapphire 270x Vapour-x 2GB

If ram is the issue and I was to buy another 4gb, would it cause an issue if that 4gb was 1600mhz?

i think buying 4gb of extra ram should fix the problem, but you dont need to go for 1600MHz, 1333MHz is good for now.

You'd certinly benefit from 8gb of ram total, but i don't know if it would solve your current issue. As for the frequency, if you put them in the same channel, they'll work but at the pace of the slowest module so you'd be wasting money. I'm not sure if you can get their full speed by putting them in a different channel.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Sounds like you're running out of vram.

Have you checked how much gets used while playing?
