Thoughts on EVGA SuperNOVA 750W B2 Power Supply?

melias24

Hi, i am planning a GTX 760 sli build (yes i know few games are not supported but apart from that) has anyone had experience/ have an

EVGA SuperNOVA 750W B2 Power Supply

? i have been told that they are not too good, but thought id check with the wonderful and helpful people on Linustechtips forums first. The reason im looking at this PSU is because its $110 and has some modular leads, i need to stay around the $110 mark to stay in budget, thanks

The B2's are decent psus--a bit better than Corsair's cx series.

Do you mind linking me to some reputable reviews to give anyone a reason to believe that?

I couldn't fine any myself. The newegg customer reviews don't look promising though.

Where do you live btw? $110 is a high of a price for this PSU.

i have one of these psu's and its pretty good. the modular cables look nice and the build quality is great. the only thing i don't like about it, is that it does have a single 12v rail.

I can't find direct comparisons between the cx750 and 750B but I can say that the evga B series has better components with Teapo instead of samxon and capxon capacitors. The cx series does better overall in raw performance though. Quality over quantity when it comes to psus imo.

Proven quality over letters and numbers imo. You can't throw a car together using "reliable" parts and call it reliable once it's done. I would need to see multiple reviews from reputable sources thoroughly testing the 750B before recommending it to anyone. Even then if you get a working review sample then you have just that. Customer reviews on newegg etc still mean a lot in terms of the average user experience and failure rate.

The EVGA B2 series is a custom designed Super Flower unit. Definitely the better performing psu compare to the CWT made CX series. And it's a fairly new psu so don't expect much review on it for now.

This guy posted this in 2013 it can't be that old?

I'm also just curious where did you find out that it's a custom designed Super Flower? I'd like to see for myself. Thx.

Here you go. http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page2293.htm. Just click any review links on the right side.

Edit: also,I'm just guessing it's a custom design because I can't find any similiar product specs from Super Flower itself.

They are both lower end models, in terms of wattage, but the two Johnny Guru reviews I could find give the edge to the EVGA B series. The CX series losing most of it's points for build quality. The Supernova G2 PSU's from EVGA receive almost perfect scores.

There are plenty for G2 750W reviews out there but i avoided them because they are not the same power supply, Unless they are VERY similar internally it's like comparing a CX 750M to a RM 750M.

Maybe learn to read. I included reviews for the CX series and the B series as well. I made no direct comparison between the G2 and the CX series.

Ah i get it now. You told me to read after apparently not reading yourself. Nowhere in my post did i state that you were making a direct comparison between a G2 and a CX. I said the G2 is a DIFFERENT power supply than the B2 therefore i didn't compare the two and i feel like doing so is like comparing a CX to a RM UNLESS the G2 and B2 are very similar internally.

BTW, B series reviews are still relevant as it still provides insight into the quality that EVGA puts into their PSUs.

Oh and just a heads up the original B1 was a FSP Raider unit and the B2 is apparently a custom superflower. It's the quality of the manufacturers not EVGA and the B1 compared to the B2 is day and night considering they are completely different power supply's.

OP, the B2 is a solid choice, better than the CX or even RM series from Corsair. You would need something like an HX or AX series from Corsair in order to match the quality of any of the EVGA PSUs.

The the new B2/G2 should be much much better than the CX line of power supply's when looking at components alone but to say that you would need an HX or AX series from Corsair to match the quality of ANY of the EVGA PSU's is just wrong.

Cool, I saw the B2's listed on that database and on EVGA's website. Had a feeling they were new. realhardtechx lists them as New and uncertified, but the spec sheet on EVGA's website lists them as 80Plus Bronze. Perhaps they are listing them that way because there's no way they're releasing it without it being Bronze certified at least.

What do you think of the $99 price point on the B2 750W?

Scratch that, it's as low as $85 at NCIX.US.

Looks reasonably competitive. Should be better quality than the CX750 and CX750M, cheaper than the Antec HCG 750M, what else?

$15 more and you can get the excellent CM V750S from Amazon. Even less on Newegg with mail-in rebate.
