getting a laptop for school i need advice

The thing about macbook pros is that they have a great battery life to power ratio. Thats the biggest reason to get them. 

I have a 2019 macbook pro with 64gb of ram and my gaming pc has been in the closet since 2018

I suggest you get a thin notebook that packs a punch in hardware, like a MSi ghost pro and a external optical drive because only schools use cd/dvd these days and there getting fewer and fewer.
The weigt of the notebook should be easy to carry (its under 2KG) .
Its has a 15.6 inch screen for mobility. (full keyboard with numpad)

with 5K dollars you can buy ANY notebok out there. The most expensive workstation notebooks are 3000$.
