so i turned 18 today and now i can legally do all the stuff i've been doing for about 4 years xD

but on a techie note, i'm saving up for a lenovo Y510P notebook and my work just gave me £50 for the fund! how good is that!

i'd just like to know has any of your workplaces ever done anything like this? i think it was really kind that everyone contributed something towards something that would take me 3 months to save up for

:)

That's so f*cking badass.!

Have a better day than I did. I spent my 18th doing a really crappy physics exam and then being sad the rest of the day because it was the hardest exam that I have ever done.

Never had a workplace that actually gave me money that they weren't required by law to give me. Sounds like you've got a great boss.

Welcome to adulthood. Have you had the sudden unpleasant realization that your now legally responsible for your own actions yet?

Happy Birthday!

sucks, i left college last year to do this apprenticeship. so much better imo

My apprenticeship has gotten me far I never went to college well I did but dropped out.

The money sucks at first yes, but look at the long run, you're learning in a working environment and getting paid (albeit shit money) It'll work for you down the line, once it's over and you get your certificates from it also then you can consider college/uni so don't worry either.

Well that's even better! You're getting paid a decentish amount, learning and preparing for the future all at once, that's better than college even if college days are shorter.

Yeah I found college boring I felt like I already knew the stuff they was teaching, I joined late caught up on 3 months work in 1 week and then I was bored waiting for everyone to catch me back up, so I left. No coursework now, it's your birthday you got some drinking to do sunshine, have one for me too while you think of me working away into the night.

At least you could do much in your country. 18's are still kids here.

i guess each culture has their own beliefs as what qualifies as an adult, i think that it is more sensible to have the legal age to drink and smoke and stuff should be higher anyway, would decrease the amount of kids that are drinking and smoking (kids as in 13 year olds) and in the UK kids are getting pregnant at 14 because they are going to parties and doing random shit and generally being idiots, increasing the legal age would reduce this, if not eradicate this completely

That sounds like a plan, a tip for you start slow! Nothing worse than going home at 10pm because you drank so fast.

It's not always a good thing but I think putting younger people with more responsibility at a younger ages will help mature them.

Well I started smoking at 13, then I was drinking at like at about the same and yeah it is really stupid I know that now, but increasing the age will increase the underage stats, they tried it with the smoking age it went from 16 to 18 in 2006/7 and now everyone who was buying at 16 became an underage smoker again but it won't ever get rid of the problem it's just to do with being mature I guess, this is a political debate though too deep for a birthday!
