I was searching for stress tests and I found this link which suggests that it does CPU Stress Test without downloading any software? I tried it out and it does work (selected 25% load and it actually said it was taking 25% of CPU in Task Manger but stopped it because uncertain what it was actually doing) but any idea how do these work?: http://www.fossiltoys.com/cpuload.html

(posted it in programming section to see if any html code users know what it is doing in the background)

A tech enthusiasts would rather download the software anyway than trust a dodgy test done through a website. This test is even more moot for those who overclock since one of the first things most would download to their system would be stress testing and monitoring software.

Exactly what I was thinking. Also damn that avatar, it's one of the ones that I must always stare at every time I see it.

You gotta do you girl. I always say you gotta do you. And if he's doing him, then who's doing you? Because right now, it seems like no one's doing you.

  • 4 years later...

For me, the reason I would do an online stress test is because I am curious and it is a school computer so I can't install anything on it and I haven't found a stress test that doesn't require installing something. So I have to do the free online ones

Not aware of any, but I have accidentally found a few crypto coin mining websites that managed to slam my CPU.

I dont think they will give you meaning benchmark data though.

It might be easier to just see the about page on the OS which tells you the model of CPU that many others have already bench marked.

It must be using web assemble right? JavaScript is single thread and you can't process.fork like you can in node.

I'm on the bus right now but I'll take a look once I'm at work.
