For detailed guides you need to state what hardware you are using. But some general things are that you must have good cooling. Basicly aftermarket cooler starting from 212 evo up to custom water cooling loop. Next thing is max temps. These depend bit on hardware being used but in general CPU should stay under 85C under full stress, for GPU its around 85-90C. The overclocking itself can be done with wizards and with software in general. For GPUs using software is best option as they provide best tools without huge risk of breaking anything. For CPU BIOS is best. The process is all about increasing numbers. For CPU its multiplier and voltage, for GPU its memory clock, shader clock and core clock plus core voltage. Basicly with good overclocking GPU you can just go with clocks and voltages at auto/default. After changing numbers you must do stress test to check how stability is and how your temps are.

When stress testing, set your voltage to manual or constant.  Not adaptive.

1. Make sure you have OCable components

2. Have the best cooling you can buy.

3. Research well the OCing videos from reputable OCing sites.

4. Know your BIOS.

5. Know your component warranty

6. Have loads of spare time.

7. Have a more experienced plethora of people who have way more OCing experience than you....hey look its the LTT.

8. Have readily available snacks and drinks

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

I have a question. Can you run stress tests in a pause play method? I cant afford my pc to run 24hrs for stress test because i cant monitor it and i have class.

Also, At idle and browsing when its overclocked it always runs it at its OCed speed right? No automatic underclocking?
