Hello guys.

As I'm heading out for my first real "super build" in my opinion, I'm looking for any suggestions to what to improve.

The build goes like this;

CPU - i5-4690k
CPU Cool - Corsair 105

Mobo - Asus maximus VII formula

GPU - Asus gtx 780 ti matrix platinum

Ram - 8 GB Corsair Vengeance Pro

PSU - Corsair RM650W

SSD - 250GB samsung SSD

HDD - Seagate Barracuda 2TB

Case - NZXT h440 Black/Red

Yes. I do know that the mobo is a waste of money, since I can get it a lot cheaper for the exact same thing. But I'm going for a black/red build.

I'm gaming 90% and editing 10%, so I dont feel use of a i7 or 16gb ram.

So if you have any suggestions or anything that I should keep in mind, buying this or that product, please feel free to comment.

Great build. You said you wanted some suggestion, so here are my two cents. Get the EVGA GTX 780 6GB SC w/ ACX if it's cheaper. If you don't need the motherboard cooling there are some other great boards that fit your color scheme and save you money (while not compromising on anything). Asus Maximus Hero VII, MSi Z97 Gaming 7 (or 5). If it's an AIO you want better ones would be the Kraken X60/X61 or the Nepton 280L.

Looks amazing imho, suggestion wise I'd say Noctua NH-D15'sover the Given CPU cooler ,Otherwise it looks good.

Well.. The "problem" is that I want it visually good, which is also a reason why I bought the motherboard plus the GPU. Both has the ROG logo and matches my build which is red/black. So I'm afraid I'll stay with a low-profile CPU cooler as the h105 or 100i etc.

I'd look at the noctua NH-D15 and really an I7 would help out.

As I'm mainly gaming, would that be worth getting the 4790k above the 4690k ? And do you know how much of a difference there will be in gaming ?

I've thought a lot about the evga gtx 780 6gb, but as I dont feel the need of the 6GB, it kinda make me go away from it. I'm running 2 monitors, only gaming on one, so the need of 6GB doesn't forfill my needs. As I'm also getting a 1440p I rather want the 780 ti over a 780. And I've been researching a lot and I found out that the 780 ti matrix is one of the best. As I'm having a high budget, I think that fits me best. I want a simple build with not 3 GPU's, and then also the ROG theme.

Sorry man, I read Strix for some reason which is basically the Asus version of the EVGA 6GB 780. The Matrix 780 ti is great.

It'll only make a few FPS difference in gaming, but you'll have extra threads and cores in the case of you do a lot of other stuff with gaming, but that 10% of the time you're editing, that I7 would REALLY speed up the process.

Haha it's okay! no worries at all.

Yearh. Also I rather pay maybe 30$ more for the same performance, but with a more pleasing look, which I think imo the 780 ti matrix has. Which is also why I've chosen it. Otherwise I would have gone for either the GHz or something else.

I might get the 4790k instead. Might not be worth so much in the short term, but in the longer terms, as I'm also getting a computer which will be better for both gaming + recording but also video editing, it will probably be good in long term. Thanks a lot.

You're welcome. Hopefully everything goes well and there's no problems building it!
