can you watercool without the backplate or have you got to

 

as my 7870 is last year gpu, i looked into seeing if i can still get waterblocks for it

 

i saw i can get two blocks

 

EK-FC7870 - Nickel [3831109856376]

EK-FC7870 - Acetal+Nickel [3831109856383]

 

but also saw

 

EK-FC7870 Backplate - Black [3831109856802]

 

just to clear thing through this is my gpu

Yes, people should really stop with that sh*t. Same with GPU's, somebody's talking about going Nvidia and you get 10 comments saying get a 290/290X.

it runs bf4 without lag so why should i upgrade like people keep suggesting>?

They're looking at the long term. Say if you want to be running next years games on max settings or at higher resolutions you need a better card or CF. Saying WC on this card isn't worth it is BS. Any component that generates significant heat benefits from having better cooling, plus the aesthetics of a custom loop can't be denied.
