And if you're the JAKEBAB guy on this topic, you dislike the crap out of him.

Seriously though, it would just be abused way too much, so I'm not in favor.

I'm not going to look. I'm probably get mad.

Let's not: I've seen places were disqus comments allow anonymous downvoting or "dislikes" and it basically makes for an unusable community: People are way more likely to shit on someone's post if they're anonymous and don't have to confront people or offer a proper argument.

Having feedback is always useful however it has to be actual  feedback: If I post something pro LGBT for example I would get a ton of downvotes, I prefer to have people voice opinions on the subject to see who are misguided or merely reactionary and who's truly a bigot I can comfortable add to my ignore list.

I've been on a forum where they implemented a dislike button. It goes either one of two ways.

1) Everyone ignores it because we all "dislike" each other's posts

2) People haze others and members start leaving the forum

Usually in order from number two to number one. Terrible idea, kills the aspect of conversation because people will just go and dislike a post and not create points for talking.

Bad idea.

It would turn LTT into reddit where popular opinions are praised and unpopular opinions are downvoted into oblivion and never seen again.

I seriously doubt you would get downvoted for something like that on this forum.

Most people here seems pretty reasonable.

On a side note, I am against ignore lists as well.

It just creates a bubble where you never have to confront anyone with opposing views.

Hearing other peoples' opinions is very healthy, no matter how stupid they may be.

I feel like it would cause more problems then its worth.

Although it would be nice to dislike posts sometimes.

I think the opposite. I try to be neutral and there many forum members here that I'm either friendly with or have respect for, but every so often there is a shitposter and I'd rather just thumbs them down then get worked up over responding to ignorance.

I'll go one further and say after a certain threshold, a post will get hidden. Why have pages filled with stupid fighting when a thumbs down shows clear disapproval without getting into heated arguments. Would also spare the need to flat out block a user.

In order to prevent abuse, members only should be able to like or dislike a comment. If Linus actively encourages this on his own videos with zero issue saying you can dislike, members on the forum shouldn't act like spiteful children and have the same maturity level.

@LAwLz I'm not a fan of ignore lists, either. However, there is very little in options and this forum does have its fair share of shitposts. I'd rather thumbs down and call it a day. If a member is causing more negative than positive, that isn't always the result of a flawed system, it very well could be a glaring character flaw with the user themselves. For example, if I constantly made posts calling everyone degenerates and that gays are disgusting, I honestly would be surprised if I didn't get a backlash like i would rightfully deserve.
