Zalman ZM-VE300

Hey Guys,

I saw this thread and i thought id put a review for the Salman ZM-VE300.

Australian Retailer: http://www.mwave.com.au/product/zalman-zmve300-25-usb30-external-hdd-case-aluminum-alloy-black-ab50177

If you are familiar with the ISO-Stick, this is very similar.

The second I heard this product exited I orderd it (i live in Australia so i had to order it from mWave.com.au if you wanted one and were in australia)

The instructions were horrible, but i managed to get it working after 15-20 mins of playing with it and google.

so pretty much it an external enclosure that you can have an ISO folder and select different ISO's to mount, this has saved a lot of time, the instant i got it i made ISO's of EVERY cd i use at work and put them in an ISO folder. now i just plug in, select ISO and use the disk like that. i went from towers of CD's to just one external with EVERYTHING on there, hey hope it doesnt die :P

ive had it for over a year now and it comes in balck and silver... i ordered he black one and got the silver (no clue what happened there)

but it comes with a WITTLE TINY SCREWDRIVER, two tiny screws which i havent used to so long i dont even know where they are anymore,  obviously the enclosure, USB3.0 Micro-B cable and a nice little case for it.

on the device you will find three buttons. up, down, select and backup.

  • up goes up in the menu
  • down goes down in the menu
  • select will select what you have selected. if you hold it down it goes back
  • i have never used the backup button but im sure that works with the backup software bundled with the device

i havent really tested it with a fast hard disk, ive only used with really old mechanical disks.... i need to invest more in this thing considering the amount of data it has.

conclusion: if you got this far then you clearly thing this could help you out, i would recommend it to anyone who is constantly re-installing operating systems, if you work in an IT service desk definitely get one they make things so much easier (granted you do local support and not just over the phone)
