So far I know that Linus is giving away 25 and MKBHD + Unbox therapy are giving away 75 and because of the timing I'm sure many others. Well that's one way to win over people into the 1440p mobile fold

Probably LG trying to win over some top YouTubers so that they can make an appearance since I rarely see any LG stuff get reviewed personally. Maybe they are just trying to be nice :) Some companies are like that and it will drive the hype for the phone so why not! I entered them all so I have a chance to retire my HTC Desire after it's very long duty xD

Each phone costs something like 200-250 dollars to make.

Let's say they are giving away 150.

That's 37,500 dollars or less (probably quite a bit less) for 150 people that can show off your latest product to their friends, and hundreds of thousands of people wanting to win.

Pretty good marketing if you ask me. Surely that's better than spending 37,500 dollars on TV and billboard ads.

These are the Korean version of the phone ie. the version with espionage features that make it illegal to sell in "frenemy" territories. Giving them away while forcing winners to agree to (and be responsible for) spying for them.

Do I still want one? Yes, because I am a spy.

& no I haven't read the full contract.

You do realize that LG is from South Korea, not North Korea, right?

lol! just 'coz they're "The Good Koreans" doesn't mean they aren't spying. Remember their TVs?

Also, LG products sell quite well up north.
