is it gonna become the next budget build gaming CPU processor?

I keep hearing from the people at the PC store saying oh how great a OCer it is and how cheap it is to replace the I3 series

from what i know there's no overclockable I3 series

of ot's really that good  how much will it be when it arrives in singapore? cause I know in it's USD$73.00

I'm also guessing this will be a good chip for new player who don't know how to OC to buy and practise

I would classify it as good enough for budget gaming. wouldn't trust it with a GPU over a 760. I might get one for my HTPC just because it's cheap and promises good overclocks.

Pentium K all the way

i was thinking ether runing it with a MSI GTX750Ti (overkill ocer) or a R9 270X for budget gaming

i'd pick the core i3-4130 3.4ghz instead, because it can handle 4 threads and run games better.

I really don't know why intel is not making an unlocked i3. It will simply dominate the whole market if it makes it.

The pentium k is a very good move but not so powerful. WAKE UP INTEL FFS!

Probably because it'd cannibalise i5 sales like the cheap 70%+ overclockers on LGA775 :P. Buy £80 CPU get £170+ CPU performance:)

Make core i5 hyperthreaded and i7 6 cores/12 threads. Problem solved :P

Shame that won't happen until AMD have high end processors matching i7s in all aspects :(

Which won't happen until a lot of software developers start making most consumer software heterogeneous, and by then Intel's own APUs will have implemented the same heterogeneity (different architecture, but same programmability/workability) with their already much more efficient CPU architecture. Broadwell and Skylake are proof enough the dedicated CPU is dying.

I don't think AMD will ever rise again to rival Intel's upper-mid and high-end chips. The benchmarks of the G3258 and A10 7850k both overclocked to the max show the G3258 competes evenly on everything except the graphics. That's utterly pathetic given a dual-core should not be able to load Ubuntu equally as fast as a same-generation quad-core.

I'm hoping AMD's 2015-16 architecture (finally saying goodbye to 2-part modular cores) brings them back into performance competition.

Also, both companies really need to put more PCIe lanes on the lower and mid-range chips. PCIe and M.2 SSDs are taking off and Skylake's 20 is a real disappointment.

I agree :)

But we will see what the future brings for both AMD and Intel.

My G3258 turns up next week :)
