is my gpu dead?

I was playing bf3 lately and suddently my monitor was going crazy all kind of colors stripes squares so i turned my pc of and now there are 2 lanes with stripes see pic.

After leaving it out the wall for a moment the problems where gone. So i started doing homework and it still worked but when i try to launch a 3d application it crashes!

Does this mean my gpu is dead?

This maybe due to the conditions in your case? is it hot or has the fan stopped working we need more details to give accurate answer

It runs at load around 50 degrees celcius.

The vrms run at 35 degrees celcius

have you unlocked the shaders ? if you did switch to original bios via the swith on the card

This is a basic question, but are you sure the monitor cable is plugged in securely on both ends? It could very well be the drivers, so the best thing would be to try a bunch of different drivers and if the problem persists, then the issue lies elsewhere. When you install the drivers, the safest route would be to boot into safe mode, run driver sweeper to remove all traces of the existing drivers and then install the alternate drivers.

Ok i am rigght now trieng other driver also the ones on the origibal disk i noticed when i open gpuz i got an open cl error what does it do and mean

The drivers on the CD will likely be very old, so no point in using them. As Linus always says, you should always throw away the driver CD and download the latest from the official website :)

I know butt aleast they worked so i am sure its not the drivers problem becouse the new drivers might give an error

Btw i do keep all my drivers cds especially the wifi card ones!

I meant they worked in the past so if they work it is not an driver issue and id didnt solve anything installing other drivers

No my board doesnt have onboard but i used a 3670 for a while but i cant see the options in bf3 so i dont know if i play at low median high or ultra if i play ay low it runs at about 28 fps

That sucks man. Do tell how the bios update turns out. As last resort try a new os install on your HDD/SSD through another computer. Do you have any warranty left? Maybe try to bake your card.

Ok guys i did a bios flash new dticers still nothing i also used a geat gun on the card still nothing but i just found oyt if i move the card up and down in its slot (its not loose you can move it like 2mm up and down) the artifacts change color :0

Shoulf i also heat up the memory modules?

Never use a heat gun on anything its a stupid remedy. RMA it to the manufacture. Also, do you have screws holding on the graphics card? Is it pushed in the PCI slot all the way?

I'm guessing either the card or PCI slot on the motherboard is damaged.

Unless it's LAN drivers for a new motherboard on a clean install of windows. 

Or unless you have no Internet connection. I keep all my discs. You never know when you might need it.

I tried another pcie slot still had a crash

Btw after using the heat gun i didnt had a checkerboard artifact anymore but i still got lines from top to bottom also my warranty is expired i am broke right now and cant play games because i am using a x600 A.T.M.
