So my friend is doing this epic all out build for future proofing gaming in 4k and stuff. He got the Asus Rampage IV Black Edition and he first put the pc together without me. He connected everything and tried to turn it on. He put in both his titan blacks and he connected the top one to a TV via hdmi. The fans and motherboard led lit up. I realized that none of his titans were running. The fans were not spinning and the GeForce led was not lit. I took everything apart to check. I put the motherboard on the box and with everything disconnected other than the CPU, CPU cooler and the ram sticks. I connected only the power, gpu and a hardrive. I still didn’t work. I took the Titan down all the lanes and it only third pcie lane powered the gpu. The fans spun and the led lit. I tied connecting a vga to a monitor and it still didn’t work. No display? What should I try next time?

His parts:

I7 4930k

Coolermaster V8 GTS air cooler

Asus Rampage IV Black Edition

Corsair Dominator 16gb

Corsair 1500i power supply

2x Zotac Titan Blacks

Thermaltake Level 10 GT LCS

is there any LED error code on the display?

try with only 1 stick of RAM in the first slot but no need to connect HDD

it really hard to troubleshoot when it do not come with onboard display

PSU fan running I guess

try to re connect all the power supply connections

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I think Gigabyte is pretty bad too, Next PC probably getting an EVGA motherboard, PSU, GPU and possibly case.  But for me if I have a faulty mobo within 24hours, I can call up the place I ordered it from and they will rma it, not Asus.

That is true RMA's are a pain in the ass.

yes they are, I tend to buy as much of my hardware as possible from my PC store of choice, and they offer me return to base service on a lot of items which is extremely useful as they are only 100 miles away and next day shipping is cheap.

Dont order things online then... I personally dont like to order things online because of the risk of info getting stolen, RMA's, waiting for shipping and paying for shipping.

I just walk into my local Canada Computers and buy the crap I need... Saves alot of time and money which would be normally spent on shipping.

The "Direct Replacement Plan" is really good at Canada Computers.

That is true RMA's are a pain in the ass.

I took my HTC One to my carrier shop to RMA it, they said even though I didn't tinker with it I would need to pay a massive fee to send it, (like $150) and so they offered to fix it there, so I left it with them, later.  I find the phone with a red exclamation mark and it wont turn on.  I asked them then to just send it for RMA and I'll pay the fee, they said they cant because it had been tinkered with!  I wasn't the one who tinkered with it?!!?!  Then I finally get home and it suddenty boots up and works but tons of apps were gone, my bootloader was partially unlocked and it seems like they tried to install a custom ROM but failed.

Bloody Hell.  RMAs suck.

I agree you have to leave the product just the way you bought it trust, the amount of RMA's my little computer shop has to send out we know what will fly and what won't.

Thanks everyone for so many replies!

Well it looks like he's screwed. He ordered everything online through like a billion stores. The worse and, its funny because it so bad part, is that we are in China. Yes the online retailers here are basically random people selling stuff. I think its kind of like ebay. Looks like he's screwed. I also might add that his 840 ssd came deformed/ crushed. I'll try bringing my crappy pc over to his house and test the parts out. Hopefully he gets to return them or something. Well at least when he builds everything back up it looks good and he's rich as ****.

Thanks again for the replies!
