Battlefield 3 - Extremely Low FPS

I had that issue about a week ago, it was getting like 10fps on 2 by 2p.

 

I solved it by changing the HDD the game was installed on.

I have a feeling this might not help you.

So I've got a R9 290 and an i5 4670K, so let's take bottlenecking out of the way.

Normally the game runs for me, on full ultra settings, 1080p, at anywhere from 100 to 200 FPS.

Suddenly, yesterday happened first, my game runs at 10 FPS max, and I did nothing to it whatsoever.

Does anyone know a fix? Thanks!

Check your temps while playing. Both cpu and gpu

Check your temps while playing. Both cpu and gpu

CPU is running at about 50 degrees

GPU at 70 degrees

is anything running in the background using ram/cpu? try putting the BF settings to default. and update/reinstall your driver if that doesnt work

I had this earlier today, i believe i put all the graphics on low and went into task manager and set the affinity of the application to only 1 core. then change the graphics up to medium and chang the affinity back to all cores. I think that is what solved my issues.

Well I always have some tabs open in Chrome and some other programs, but the ram usage is about 4GB and the CPU is staying at about 60% usage...

It could be just the game messing with ya.

reset the settings to default and restart the game, see if that helps

in origin right click bf3 and repair it

BF3 and BF4 and even titanfall i would say need to be on an SSD they're such big files.

have you recently OCed? I know my GTA4 crashes if my cpu is at 3.9ghz but 3.8ghz its just fine

I just got my CPU back to stock from 4.2GHz, but it's not that, it was working fine at stock too...

I'm gonna try and install it on the SSD.

What I did to speed the process was I changed the install directory of origin games, then I copied the game over to the new location, deleted the old one and reinstalled. It started working after that.
