easy way to tell is to check your cpu usage during gaming the lower the less it is bottlenecking. well atleast thats what ive been told :)

People told me it's the other way round, that if the GPU isn't at 100% the CPU bottlenecks it.

if the GPU is at 100% the GPU is the bottleneck.

there is always a bottleneck in a system.

It most likely doesn't bottleneck your GPU. There is no game bottlenecking.

What i mean is, when im playing BF4 i get same fps while im playing at high or ultra(minimum 40-45) cpu usage while playing 80-90% I dont recall the gpu usage

but in the Metro Last Light, gpu usage is fixed at 44%(fps 50-60)

there you have it

the CPU is limiting your GPU

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

You want your GPU to be at 100% usage cause that means you are utilizing it's full potential if it's below 100% you aren't getting the full potential I guess an Ideal situation would be to have both CPU and Video card at 100% but then again you don't want that either because you want to be able to run stuff in the background
