How ghetto is your testing?

I pulled a motherboard out of an HP desktop with a defective chipset (or something) which rendered all the onboard SATA connections undetectable by the BIOS. Without really looking into the capabilities of the motherboard, I tried to see if I could bypass this issue by using a SATA PCI-E card. I scrounged together a bunch of parts and the result is what you see below. How many ghetto things can you find? Can you reach a new level of ghetto?

By the way, it didn't work. Motherboard is rubbish, unless I use a USB-bootable OS.

I have a Core 2 Duo PC fitted with a HD 6970 and 2 400w PSUs to power the mess. The second PSU is suspended by cable ties inside the case and I have a light switch mounted to the front bezel in order to turn it on. I'm using SATA to PCIE power cable adapters, and I have fitted this all inside an Old Antec 300 case. Run perfect, no issues at all. I could have spliced the 2 PSUs together so that the second would turn on automatically, but It seemed like too much work, and I heard about some voltage issues with this method.

For the first year of my old computer's life, the power supply and hard drive were hanging off my desk, the motherboard was on the desk, and the optical drive was sitting on the PCI slots. Not to mention that I had an AM3 cooler on a Socket 478 CPU.

15 years ago the serial ports went on the back side of the mobo.

Dang it...

Looking through my drawers I stumble across a addin card with serial/2xhdd pata and bios disabled the onboard and this litle old lady had a working pc again when I arrived.

Payment was a glass of water.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Is the wall okay?

Similar thing with also HP motherboard but older... I'd to do insane things... (all hail 6 mbps USB 1.1; yeah... wasn't even full speed)

Sad thing is that this board is at least AM3 with an Athlon II X4. Didn't have USB 3.0, but hey... there wasn't USB 1.1 either.

Not the Sempron, just the community in which it resides (AKA ASRock city).

Never trust AsRock - especially with such a worthy CPU!

Just tried out Ubuntu from a Live CD. Worked for 2 minutes before crashing due to GPU lockup. This motherboard is such a troll. Speaking of which, anyone want to buy it for $100? Buyer pays shipping.
