780, 780 ti or r9 290x tri-X, for new Build

Demm

Hi, I will be building a new personal Rig, and I can't decide which GPU to get. I am looking for great performance for the latest games and the ones to come.

I am thorn between 780, 780 ti or r9 290x tri-X(cuz I hear reference pretty much sucks). Money is not that big of an issue but I don't want to be wasting money for nothing. So my question is which one to get? Is the 780 ti worth the extra money, and if it does, why (what's so better about it) ? I prefeer the Nvidia producs, because I have more experience with them, and from what I hear, Ati drivers are not very good.

My rig:

CPU: i7 4770k/ 4790k.
Mobo: Asus Maximus VII Hero/ Ranger.
Ram: Corsair vengeance pro, 2x4GB, 1600 MHz.

HDD: WD Black 500GB
PSU: Cooler master V850
Case: NZXT Phantom 410

Posibly Liquid CPU cooler: Corsair H100i

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600, MOBO: MSI Tomahawk B450, RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 3000 (2x8 GB), GPU: MSI RTX 2080 Gaming-X Trio, CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U12S, PSU: Corsair RM 650, HDD: WD Blue 1TB, SSD: Samsung 860 ECO 500GB, CASE: Fractal Design Meshify C

GTX 780Ti £530

R9 290X Tri-X OC £390

If you want a nice build, get the GTX780 Ti but if u want to save some money get the R9 290X. they both have the same performance but the 780Ti is slightly better in some games.

Be aware that the Tri-X is ugly though, especially if u have the Maximus Hero, the colour just doesn't go well together, I have the R9 290X Tri-X but I sprayed it in RED! Also if you plan to CF this card in the future, 1000w psu to be safe.

the GTX 780 should never be in your consideration at all (in my opinion) It is £380 but the R9 290 (non X) is £300 and is faster(ish), so if you think u will get 780, then I would strongly suggest the r9 290

well there is the  GF GTX 780, 3GB EVGA SC w/ EVGA ACX Cooler, its runs - Base Clock: 967 MHZ - Boost Clock: 1020 MHz and - Memory Clock: 6008 MHz Effective, so it makes it harder. I definetly wont be geting the Reference gtx 780. And the colors are not big deal for me cuz the way my PC is set you cant see anything in it.

Thanks for your reply :)

Any 290 will mop the floor with that 780 for a lot less. Either get a 290 or 290x if you want to save some money. If you don't really really care about cost then get a 780 ti.
