Actuation point (where the switch "clicks" and the key activates) is higher up on the cherry mx red than the browns. The browns require more force, are tighter and quieter because of it and the reds stay more responsive/lighter feeling, respectively. I think it's a difference of 20/25 grams of force between the two, but you'd have to check or have someone who knows off the top of their head tell you.

Cherry mx red has a different switch design from (I think) blue and brown as well. You can look up diagrams if you're interested but those are the real differences.

Reds a very linear while browns are tactile in comparison. You can see the actuation point of the brown switch below.

And just for the heck of it, here's blue. Blues are much heavier compared to browns and have their distinctive click sound.

Browns and Reds require the same force (45g) to register a keystroke. The bump is not very noticeable for browns unless you are a soft typist, bottoming out feels pretty linear. If you can't feel the bump in the Browns you're probably pressing down with too much force.

It's not necessarily a bad thing, just means you probably need a more pronounced bump and/or a heavier switch. Try blue (50g, with a clicky noise) or clear (50g, no click) switches for this, or green (80g, with a clicky noise) if you want the heaviest possible switch with an actuation bump.

I don't really agree that they are the same. Reds feel much lighter with no interference whatsoever when pressing a key, and browns have a noticable bump, even if it's a very small one when you press the key heavily.

I'm on browns at the moment, and i hate reds because they're so light. (Although browns are much lighter than i would actually like)

I'm gonna try greens in the next few months and hopefully they're good.

i play a game called Osu! which requires pressing 1 or 2 keys over and over again and sometimes, you have to be pressing each key 2-3 times every second when playing fast maps and i achieve this using browns, although i would be able to sustain this for a longer period if i was using reds, because the repetitive bump on browns wears my stamina down relatively quickly. im gonna get the K70 RGB with reds when it comes out. :D

Q-spamming in Battlefield 4 hurts my finger since I've been using my MX Browns so I now spot a bit less lol.

Damn...you gotta build up them arm and hand muscles bro. I used a G710plus for the longest time and experienced no fatigue from q spamming. Even now that I switched to a K70 with MX Blues and still have no fatigue.
